Overview
This page documents your privacy rights under two major data protection frameworks: the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which applies to users in the European Economic Area and United Kingdom, and the California Consumer Privacy Act and California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), which applies to California residents.
MusicTempoFinder.com is operated by Hurst. This site does not sell personal data, does not operate advertising networks, and does not use behavioural tracking. All three tempo detection tools — tap tempo, microphone audio analysis, and file upload BPM detection — process data entirely within your browser and transmit nothing to any server. None of this tool data constitutes personal data held by this site.
If you wish to exercise any of the rights described on this page, contact Hurst at contact@musictempofinder.com with the relevant subject line specified in each section below.
Part 1 — GDPR: European Economic Area and United Kingdom Users
Legal Basis for Processing
Where MusicTempoFinder.com processes personal data, it does so on the following legal bases under GDPR Article 6:
- Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)) — server log data (IP address, browser type, page requested) is processed for security monitoring, abuse prevention, and site diagnostics. This processing is proportionate and does not override your fundamental rights.
- Contractual necessity (Article 6(1)(b)) — contact form data (name, email, message) is processed to respond to your enquiry. Without this data, it is not possible to reply to you.
- Consent (Article 6(1)(a)) — microphone access is granted by you explicitly via the browser permission prompt. Because microphone audio is processed entirely locally and never transmitted to this site’s server, it does not constitute personal data held by this site for GDPR purposes. The same applies to uploaded audio files, which are read and analysed locally and never transmitted.
Your Seven GDPR Rights
Right of Access (Article 15) You have the right to request confirmation of whether this site holds personal data about you and, if so, to receive a copy of that data along with information about how it is processed.
Right to Rectification (Article 16) You have the right to request correction of any inaccurate personal data this site holds about you, and to have incomplete data completed.
Right to Erasure (Article 17) You have the right to request deletion of personal data this site holds about you — commonly referred to as the “right to be forgotten” — where the data is no longer necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, or where you withdraw consent and no other legal basis applies.
Right to Restriction of Processing (Article 18) You have the right to request that processing of your personal data be restricted — for example, while the accuracy of data is being verified or while an objection to processing is being assessed.
Right to Data Portability (Article 20) You have the right to receive personal data you have provided to this site in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format, and to transmit that data to another controller where technically feasible.
Right to Object (Article 21) You have the right to object to processing of your personal data where that processing is based on legitimate interests. Hurst will cease processing unless compelling legitimate grounds that override your rights can be demonstrated.
Rights Related to Automated Decision-Making (Article 22) MusicTempoFinder.com does not use automated decision-making or profiling. No decisions with legal or similarly significant effects are made about you based on automated processing of your data.

Tool Data — Not Personal Data Held by This Site
For absolute clarity: BPM results, tap timing intervals, microphone audio, and uploaded audio files are all processed locally within your browser. None of this data is transmitted to MusicTempoFinder.com’s server. None of it is stored in any database. None of it is associated with your identity. None of it constitutes personal data held by MusicTempoFinder.com for the purposes of either GDPR or CCPA.
Hurst has no access to your tempo results, your tapping data, your microphone audio, or your uploaded files. They cannot be retrieved, reviewed, or deleted on your behalf — because they were never collected by this site.
